【国際交流PRアソシエイトからの発信★】Iwate University IHATOV Summer Program 2024
毎年8月のお盆休み明けに、岩手大学の海外協定校の学生向けに岩手大学イーハトーブサマープログラムが開催されます。サマープログラムではどのような体験が出来るでしょうか？PRアソシエイトのRittさんが今年の参加者からの感想も交えて紹介してくれました！
Every year after the Obon holidays in August, the Iwate University Ihatov Summer Program is held for students from Iwate University's overseas partner universities. What kind of experience can I have in the summer program? PR Associate Ritt introduced us with some feedback from this year's participants!

Iwate University IHATOV Summer Program 2024
From August 20-31, Iwate University proudly welcomed a group of international students from our partner universities for an enriching cultural IHATOV summer program at Iwate University (IUIS). This exceptional summer program featured Japanese language classes in the morning and immersive cultural activities in the afternoon.
Participants explored the captivating attractions of Iwate and the Tohoku region, including the breathtaking Morioka Castle Park, renowned for its beautiful architecture and scenic views. The program also included visits to a traditional handicraft village, where students observed and participated in the intricate process of creating Morioka handcraft products, such as indigo-dyed handkerchiefs. Participants engaged in various Japanese cultural activities, including tea ceremonies, Ikebana (flower arranging), origami, and calligraphy. They enjoyed fun summer games like Suikawari (blindfolded watermelon smashing) and were thrilled by the vibrant experience of Sansa dancing, a unique cultural highlight of Morioka.
We had the opportunity to talk with Mind-san and Bhun-san, students from Panyapiwat Institute of Thailand, who shared their enthusiastic feedback. Mind-san commended the IUIS program for its well-rounded daily activities and the deep cultural immersion it offered. She particularly appreciated the opportunities to learn about traditional Japanese arts and customs, such as tea ceremonies and yukata wearing. Bhun-san was captivated by Iwate City's serene and clean environment and found Tono Village's historical charm and the lively Sansa dancing memorable and enjoyable. He also highlighted the hands-on experience of making indigo cloth at Morioka Craft Village, which he found both fascinating and rewarding.
The IHATOV Summer Program at Iwate University (IUIS) is a two-week experience designed to offer students an in-depth exploration of the Japanese language and culture. This program, available to students from our partner universities, provides valuable insights into Japan and Iwate through a rich combination of language study, cultural activities, and engaging field trips. Moreover, in addition to the standard plan, we also offer a customized program for Agriculture Science students to explore the Farm and Nature Research Center in Iwate Prefecture.
